what goes into a luxury makeup kit?

You might have seen on my website that I consider myself a luxury natural makeup artist and educator. What classifies an artist as luxury, you might ask? Well of course it starts with the customer experience that’s provided which I’ll explain in further detail in another post. But today I want to focus on the products you’ll find both in my professional kit that I bring with me to appointments and in my studio.

Last year, I was working with a client who told me she hired me not only because she liked the pictures of my work she saw online but because she was impressed with the brands of products I was calling out in those images. Up until that conversation, I knew that people following me on social media liked to know what products I was using to emulate the look themselves but I never considered that it might sway someone’s decision to hire me.

As a luxury makeup artist, I take product selection VERY seriously. I’m constantly picking up new makeup to test even if I’m already satisfied with similar options. Why? Because I believe that’s my job. I believe that’s what my clients deserve. I do the leg work so you don’t have to. Nothing irritates me more than hearing colleagues say they haven’t tried a new concealer or foundation or lashes, etc in YEARS. How uninspiring does that sound?

I’m always so excited when my Natural Glow Academy clients bring products to their lesson that I’ve never heard of or used before. There’s no ego here. I’m not all-knowing when it comes to makeup and I’m always hungry to learn, research and try, try, try. And my opinion might differ from yours on certain brands and products and that’s okay too! There’s no right or wrong when it comes to makeup; it very much comes down to personal preference, skin type and experience.

The beauty world is ever evolving. If that statement doesn’t invigorate and excite you, you either aren’t a beauty professional or maybe you should look into a different career path 😂. No but seriously, there’s never been a more exhilarating time to work in the beauty space. New technology, science and advancements are being pumped into the market at a rapid rate. It’s hard to keep up with it all, I totally get that, and I understand not everyone can afford to keep buying new products. But I believe to be considered a luxury artist for high-end clientele, you need to make sure you’re using the best on the market. Period.

I spare no expense when it comes to equipping my arsenal with the BEST OF THE BEST. But just because a product costs a lot of $$$ doesn’t always equate it with being elite. When you hire me, you can feel confident knowing that I take my time testing and vetting each and every product, brush, you name it, to ensure I’m using the highlight quality, most beautiful and effective ones out there. Sometimes that might mean drug store and sometimes that means high-end. Sometimes it means natural products and sometimes conventional.
